Newbie here...so sorry if this has been answered before...but....
I have a Acer WLAN 11g USB Dongle.
The model is WLAN-G-US1.
This must be a really new dongle...because I can't find out anything about it on the Acer site....
It states a 300m radius…but I’m not believing that for a second…only need 20 meters to get on to my girlfriends WIFI…to download stuff to my VanPc hard drive.
I have a carputer..or VanPC as it is in a van...running XP pro.
I have a laptop and a PCMCIA WIFI card…and when I bought that…I loaded the drivers…and boom…it worked…no problem using XP’s own shit…
Now my question is…and guys already using other dongles or PCMCIA cards my already have come across this…The Acer dongle doesn’t only load its drivers…but also it’s own software…which is kinda like the XP stuff…but instead of XP coming up with “There is a wireless network” bubble…you have to use the Acer software.

Although I saw my girlfriend’s access point and network….and put in the WEP key…I still couldn’t get on her network…
Is this Acer software crap?...Do I have to use it?...Can I get back the XP utility? (Is it called Wireless Zero Configuration?)
Will this cause problems with Netstumbler?...i haven’t gotten to that stage yet…but I would like to wardrive…even on a small scale.
Any help…while I still have hair would be appreciated.
